Here are a few superfoods you may want to try and incorporate onto your plate:

Fish. Fish, particularly cold water fish like salmon and tuna, is high in Omega-3s and acts like an all-purpose medicine.

Greens. Green is good for the brain. Greens are also a rich source of vitamins A, B, C, D and K; and high in potassium, calcium and magnesium. Also, greens are loaded in fiber.

Blueberries. Blueberries could rightly be called the body’s “repair berry.” They contain more anti-inflammatory nutrients than most other fruits.

Nuts. Raw nuts are one of the most nutrient dense foods you can eat. They are also rich sources of protein, healthy fats, fiber, vitamin E and calcium. Yes, nuts are high in calories and fat, but they are healthy calories and healthy, cholesterol-free monosaturated fats.

Superseeds. Seeds aren’t only for the birds, they are super for people too. Like nuts, seeds are packed with nutrients and healthy fats. Seeds you may want to try: flaxseeds, sunflower seeds, sesame seeds and pumpkin seeds.

Yogurt. Yogurt has tremendous benefits, including being good for the gut, high in calcium, and packed with protein. Look for yogurts high in protein and low in sugar.

Avocado. Avocados are the most nutrient-dense fruit, rich in vitamins A, B, E, folic acid as well as heart healthy fats. They are also a very versatile food and can be a tasty addition to many foods and meals. 

Eggs. Eggs have gotten a bad rap over the years, but the truth is they are nutrient dense, high in protein and have a high satiety factor, keeping you fuller longer.

Beans and Lentils. These make the list because they are nutrient dense and have a high satiety factor. Also, the slow-release carbs in these legumes are one reason the Mediterranean diet is one of the healthiest in the world.
