What to expect at our Vermont
Wellness Retreat and Hiking Spa.
Everybody wants to come back from their vacation feeling satisfied they were able to get rejuvenated and invigorated, but rarely does this happen. More often, folks say they need a vacation after their vacation. In fact, most people admit childhood was the last time they felt they really had a time when they felt carefree and relaxed. So what if you could return to your youth by visiting a place where life slowed yet marched to your own drum?
What seems impossible is attainable at New Life Hiking Spa, and at the fantastic prices, guests can revisit this beautiful hiking oasis multiple times a year or come for an extended stay. Just envision a wonderland of centuries-old forests, winding trails, gentle nature sounds, zig-zag switchbacks and mountaintop views from Killington Peak, one of Vermont’s highest summits, mimicking picturesque postcards. You can experience all of this and not worry about a thing because you will be lead by trained hiking guides…just like the camp counselors did in your youth. We provide your backpack, water bottles, fruit and hiking poles. You just make sure you have sturdy socks and high top hiking boots!
On a typical day at New Life Hiking Spa, you’ll meet downstairs after breakfast with fellow guests and collect your gear. There are 21 treks, and the terrain is hiking level appropriate that challenge according to your fitness level:
The Nature Walk, (flat or rolling hills 2-4 miles in length capturing Vermont scenery at a more relaxing pace). The Classic Hike, (4-6 miles on wooded trails, beautiful lookouts and serene waterfalls). The Advanced Hike, (Covers steeper more challenging terrain at a more vigorous pace). Some elevations are over 4000 feet. We hire local Vermonters who know every inch of the terrain who are attentive to their hikers’ needs. Guests hike from 9 until lunchtime, the perfect time to be outside. There is no getting up at 5 a.m. to hike before the heat hits…think–cool mountain breezes!
Each morning you’ll choose from three trails; if you’re a beginner, you’ll be on a gravel road with gentle hills and swells, shaded by maple trees, bridges spanning rivers and creeks and take in cozy farmsteads. For intermediate and advanced hikers, the Long Trail and the Appalachian Trail aim to please with inclines leading to Pico or Killington Peak. Atop you can rest on a flat boulder and take in the panoramic beauty of green pine and bathe in the fact that you did it!
After hiking, cleanse the toxins with a healthy meal (enough to be necessary for the day’s events and made from bright, vibrant natural colors). After lunch, you can attend a variety wellness classes in the afternoon, taught by our trained instructors. You can take a kayaking excursion or get a massage. We offer a variety of classes in the afternoon: core conditioning, fit ball, yoga, water aerobics, outdoor games and tai chi. Every day you’ll feel renewed, inside and out, and be on track for the type of life, you want to live. You’ll learn how to eat healthy and maintain exercise routines when you return home.
Nature is food for the mind, body, and soul. Exercising outside improves concentration, boosts memory and serves as an antidote to a stressful life.
In addition to hiking, healthy food and fitness classes, New Life would not be a “Hiking Spa” without spa services! Forget what you think about a typical spa (lounging around in big fluffy slippers and being worried about if you missed a spot shaving) and embrace the laid back, accepting nature of our casual spa that is totally come-as-you are. Our unpretentious and unassuming therapists will make you feel totally comfortable. Whether you want a basic massage, a facial, or a more holistic service like Amma or Ohashi, our therapists are among the best. We have had guests who have experienced their first massage to people who regularly get body work and spa services and they all say the same, “Amazing, healing, just what I needed!” One massage is included with every three nights you stay with us. Additional services are available for a very reasonable charge.
An array of people come from all over the world that gives New Life the magic touch. Self-awareness, renewed mentality, and longevity extend beyond time spent at New Life in Vermont. Many guests return year after year.
